Danieli Minimill Featuring QSP Technology to Produce Hot Strip in Uzbekistan
Joint-Stock Co “Uzbek Metallurgical Plant” chooses Danieli Quality Strip Production technology. Danieli, a Metal-Expo regular exhibitor is an Italian supplier of equipment and physical plants to the metal industry.
The new plant for the production of 1 Mtpy hot rolled coils will be installed within the existing site in Bekabad. The meltshop consists of a 120-t EAF, one twin-LF, and a twin-tank, twin-cover VD-OB.
The QSP® compact line includes a vertical curved thin slab caster, a Danieli Centro Combustion tunnel furnace, a 5-stand (+1 future) HRM,followed by a laminar cooling system and downcoiler.
Complete electrical supply and integrated plant process control are provided by Danieli Automation.
Final strip thickness will be 1.4 to 12 mm, in width 800-1300 mm, in 30-ton coils.
The project will enable Uzbekistan to become self-sufficient in hot-rolled coil production and the majority of the coils are meant to be processed locally, such as by the new Tashkent cold mill complex also being supplied by Danieli that will start production within first half of 2020.
